Gee, I Wanna Live in Provo!

I happened upon a link to this article on municipally-owned broadband, with Provo, Utah as an example of a successful fiber rollout. Wow, 3 Mbps symmetrical up-and-download speeds! I’d love to have that. Right now, I’ve got 3 Mbps down/256kbps up (Charter Cable), and wish I had a more-symmetrical connection. With VoIP and other home server applications becoming more popular, cable and DSL providers are getting pressure from consumers (well, some of us) to provide more upload speeds. Comcast just announced upgrades to 384 kbps upstream in some markets. I used to live in Provo, and wish I could be back in the ol’ neighborhood surfing away on my newly-lit fiber!
